The First Step to Lead Generation
Hopefully you have a strong understanding of who you are as an Expertpreneur®, your Value Proposition, Unique Selling Point, Ideal Clients, money spot, etc… Because all of these elements are critical to the first step of the lead generation process…
Creating a targeted, curiosity-building, value-driven lead magnet.
You see, your Ideal Clients have very specific fears, frustrations, and problems, as well as hopes, dreams, and aspirations. And they are looking for an Expert like you to help them out.
However, they'll have no idea you exist unless you put out a piece showcasing your knowledge and expertise, and give them a taste of what you can offer. This is where that lead magnet comes into play.
I've gone in depth on how to create a lead magnet in my blog post here. They take a bit of effort and time to put together, but will pay you back over and over for your entire career.
Once it's finished, you have to create a landing page to draw attention to it. It needs to emphasize those big pain points and benefits your lead magnet focuses on. So your prospect feels they need it to solve their problem.
Now, once you've created a landing page (and you can see an example of one here), you need to draw traffic to it. That's where targeted Google AdWords campaigns and connecting to communities where your target market hangs out comes into place.
The point is, you need to make sure your landing page and lead magnet get in front of as many eyes as possible. Because once prospects “opt in” to access it and consume it, they will be in your system. Then you will be in a position to show them everything you have to offer.
Educating Your Leads
As an Expertpreneur®, you know a lot about your industry, and you are confident you can help your clients experience the transformation of their dreams.
However, they aren't aware of what you can do for them. Even if they download your lead magnet, there's a chance they'll forget about it, won't read it, or not take it seriously. That's where the second wave of this system comes into play.
It's vital to the success of this system that you create an email series to follow-up with your leads once they opt in. If you fail to do this, they may soon forget about you and move on.
Typically, the best course of action is to congratulate them for downloading your lead magnet, send a few emails encouraging them to consume it (typically by highlighting a few big points they absolutely must check out), and then exposing them to relevant content on your website.
Of course, this means you must create relevant content to expose them to!
Hopefully you have a blog on your website, where you provide your readers with useful, actionable tools and strategies. Much like my blog, where I share valuable tips for free, you need to do that to generate buzz for your business.
You see, the more you educate your prospects, the more likely they are going to eventually buy a product or service from you. Because they will already know how savvy you are, feel connected to you personally, and realize how much they stand to gain by working with you.
So, assuming you have already created content, choose a few relevant, free pieces you can link to in your email series. Tell your prospects they can find out more about a certain topic by reading an article about it, which a link in your email takes them to.

This whole process will work time and time again. Ultimately guiding many of your prospects to their first purchase.
Getting Them to Pull the Trigger
I emphasize low-price, because just the act of buying this product will trigger consistency in your customer. Consistency means they will be more inclined to continue buying from you from here on out. This process is as much about the long run as it is about getting a large volume of sales fast.
Anyway, whatever your lead magnet is about, your front-end product should dive deeper into that concept. Perhaps your lead magnet showed your potential clients 10 simple steps to becoming stronger and more limber. This would lend well to a $99 step-by-step video series helping them attain a more muscular body.
Once you've developed that product, you need to create a sales page for it. Much like the landing page for the lead magnet, this has to take all of the concepts you've been discussing and sharing up until now, and bring them forward to show your prospect why they need your help to truly achieve the transformation they desire.
This will be what you focus on in the last few emails of your series. After you've gotten them to consume the whole lead magnet and your free content.
Do this, and there's a good chance your leads will buy what you are offering.
If they do, congratulations! You are on the right track. If they don't, no worries. This is a great opportunity to shift them into a different segment, and perhaps offer a lower-priced item, or a subscription service. There are a number of options to keep the relationship going.
The key is to understand that just because they don't buy one thing doesn't mean they'll never buy anything. You have to keep them in the loop, always engage them with valuable free content, and continue to offer products and services until something sticks.
Now, I promised a quick tactic to make sales off of potentially 10% of your leads right away.
After your prospects opt in for your lead magnet, you can actually attempt an upsell right then and there.
It may seem impossible, considering they barely know you at that time. However, every person is in a different stage of the buyer's journey. One may be ready to purchase a product right now while the next may not even know they need a product. So, you want to be ready for all of those situations.
A prospect downloading your magnet may want to get started right away. That means if you offer a $27 video series alongside it to help them do what they clearly want to accomplish, they may buy.
The fact is, even if a small percentage goes for it, that pays for your advertising and triggers consistency. Not bad results, right?
The Best Path to Success
Frankly, without a system like this in place, you are setting your business up for failure.
Can you imagine trying to do this on your own with each client that comes in without automating it? You would never be able to reach enough people, burn out from exhaustion, and hardly see the results you're hoping for.
Even though there's a lot of effort on the front end for a system like this, once you've created it… it's there, forever. And all you have to do is tweak it based on how it's performing.
I highly recommend you start developing your automated “front end” conversion system right away. Your business will thrive, and you'll be that much closer to achieving your dreams.
