You’ve probably heard these comments in reference to this topic. “That's boloney!” “You have to live with the hand you're dealt.” “Successful people are just lucky.” Perhaps you've even said them yourself at one point.
Societally speaking, we tend to not believe in ourselves. Even if we generally believe that it's possible for people to overcome obstacles and achieve dreams, we don't think we can do it. Whereas children are encouraged to dream, adults need to “be realistic.”
Well, I'm going to say THAT is boloney. And there is plenty of proof to back me up.
All of the greatest successes of our time overcame huge roadblocks. They knew the odds were against them, that it wouldn't be a walk in the park. But they wanted it so badly they were willing to do anything for it.
And they believed with all of their heart and soul that they could make it happen.
That is why today, I want to share with you the power of thought and action in the world we live in. And why with the right mindset and drive, you can do anything you want.
You'll learn about the science (yes, you read that right) of getting rich…
Amazing stories of overcoming overwhelming odds to achieve greatness…
And simple strategies you can use to have a mind like one of the greats…
How to Become Rich
However, did you know there was a book written even before that one? A book that broke down the process of becoming rich into a science. Providing concrete steps you can take to guarantee wealth.
It's called “The Science of Getting Rich,” by Wallace Wattles, and it was written all the way back in 1910. It was truly revolutionary for its time.
Essentially, Mr. Wattles states that anyone has the power to become rich. It is not limited to a lucky few, nor is there a finite amount of riches to go around.
Everyone has the right to become rich, and all it takes is the right mindset to get there.
His argument is that there's a “formless substance”, also referred to as “original substance”, that everything is made from. All that we have and see in this universe comes from this substance.
And the only way to produce tangible riches from it is with thought.
Now, I recognize this all sounds a bit out there. But in order to reach levels of success beyond what you are accustomed to, you have to be prepared to think outside the box. You have to keep an open mind.
He believed that once a thought was impressed upon this substance, it would become a reality. It may not happen overnight, or in a way we expect, but it was guaranteed to happen in some way.
The gears of the universe would start churning so that either the resources already existing within the physical world would be allocated to that process, or if that was impossible, substances outside the physical realm would make it happen. Ensuring it would become a reality no matter what.
Long story short, you can manifest thoughts into reality. If you want a house, you can have one.
However, there is another very important element to this that you must take into consideration if you hope to actually get that house.
How the Super-Successful Got There
His entrepreneurial story is legendary. Not only has he created multiple successful businesses, but he embodies the mantra of “thinking big” and making your thoughts a reality.
When he and his wife were left stranded in a small airport with a bunch of other passengers on a trip to Puerto Rico, he took matters into his own hands. He tracked down a chartered plane, divided the cost up, charging the other passengers $39 to get a seat, and got them to where they wanted to go.
This led to his creation of one of the biggest airline companies today – Virgin Atlantic. However, it was no easy task to get off the ground (no pun intended!).
You see, as he was trying to do this, British Airways started an anti-Richard Branson campaign. They were willing to do anything in their power to make sure his airline wasn't a success.
But the thing is… you can't negatively impact the “formless substance”. Or use it to take away something from someone. All you can do is add to it.
Richard Branson had the positive mindset and determination to make it happen. He did daring feats to raise awareness for his company, like breaking the transatlantic speed record via powerboat, and crossing both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in a hot air balloon.
Even though one of the largest companies in the world was trying to see him not succeed, he never gave up. And he became successful.
The same can be said for the founders of the United States of America. They were colonists from Britain who were unhappy with their treatment by the government. Stifled by taxation without representation and other unfair policies.
A small group of them secretly met night after night at a tavern (water was undrinkable, so they had no choice but to drink beer) to discuss how to create change. They came up with ideas, created a plan, and eventually freed the colonies from the British.
They fought against one of the most powerful empires to ever exist, and won. All because they wanted a change and believed they could make it happen.
The Common Thread
But, unlike many gurus who would make you think otherwise, there was another element that was absolutely necessary… They all took action, which is also a critical component of Wattles' “Science of Getting Rich.”
When you want something badly enough, and can visualize success, you almost can't help but find it. That isn't because it appears out of thin air. It's because you will stop at nothing to make it happen.
It's that pig-headed determination that will turn your thoughts into reality. Thinking those thoughts alone aren’t enough, you have to also take action.
I don't believe you can just meditate on something you want and it will appear in your life, but I also don’t think you will get things you want in life if you don’t believe they are possible.
My husband and I are founding members of the X PRIZE Education Initiative. Richard Branson is one of the great visionaries on the Board of this organization. And the thing that we and other members of this organization all have in common is that we believe you can “make the impossible, possible”.
That’s even the motto for the X PRIZE Foundation. The key to getting radical breakthroughs that benefit humanity is first the belief that something can be achieved and then providing the incentive and motivation to get people to take action to make it happen.
(If you want to learn more about the breakthroughs that the X PRIZE is creating, check out this video.)
Part of Wattles' science is taking action every single day. That's not to say you need to fill your days with needless tasks just to do something. On the contrary, he wants you to fill your days with efficient actions.
Every efficient action you take is a success. Inefficient actions are failures.
Basically, he wants you to come up with a strategy. It doesn't have to be perfect (after all, how can you know what is right when you are starting out?). But, you must come up with a plan, preferably with the help of someone who knows what they are doing, and move towards that goal.
If you take the time to work with a coach, like myself, you will get to where you want to be. Believe in your ability to succeed, plan for success, and do whatever it takes.
It doesn't have to be scary; but you have to be willing to fail. A topic that I covered in depth in an earlier blog post this month. If failure scares you, you must check it out.
Turning Thoughts into Reality
I know it may sound crazy, but you truly can make anything happen if you believe it, and take action.
The opposite is also true: if you don't believe you can do something, you can't. The only person in control of your success is YOU.
That's why I want you to understand that believing you can do it, and creating an “Easy, Simple, and Lucrative” plan, will help you achieve your dreams. No matter how long it takes, or how bumpy the road, you will get there.
